1. Prohibited content and conduct
The following are strictly prohibited on Zemzeme and will result in immediate action:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, including drawings, computer-generated imagery, and AI-generated content depicting minors.
- Grooming, sexual solicitation, sextortion, or any sexualized communication directed at or involving a minor.
- Sharing personal information of minors for the purpose of exploitation.
- Trafficking, recruitment, or facilitation of harm to minors.
- Any other content or conduct that violates child safety laws in the user's jurisdiction or in the jurisdictions where Zemzeme is distributed.
2. How we prevent CSAE on Zemzeme
Zemzeme is a decentralized peer-to-peer messaging app. Messages are exchanged directly between users over Bluetooth or relayed through the libp2p network and are not stored on a central server. Within these architectural constraints, we apply the following measures:
- Minimum age. Users must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in their jurisdiction, whichever is higher) to use Zemzeme.
- In-app reporting. Every user and every conversation includes a "Report" action that allows any user to flag CSAE, CSAM, grooming, or other child-safety concerns directly from the app.
- Blocking. Users can block any other user at any time, which immediately terminates message exchange with that peer.
- No public discovery of minors. Zemzeme does not provide directories, search, or "people nearby" features that expose minors to strangers beyond the peer-to-peer mesh they already opt into.
- Account/identity sanctions. Reported identities can be added to a denylist that is distributed to the network, preventing the offending peer from interacting with other Zemzeme users.
- Cooperation with law enforcement. We respond to lawful requests from law enforcement and child-safety organizations to the extent permitted by the app's decentralized design.
3. Reporting CSAE or CSAM
If you encounter CSAE or CSAM on Zemzeme:
- In the app: open the conversation or user profile, tap the menu, and choose Report. Select "Child safety" as the reason and submit.
- By email: write to admin@zemzeme.app with the subject line "Child Safety Report". Include as much detail as you can (screenshots, peer ID, approximate time).
- To authorities: in the United States, you can also report directly to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org. Outside the US, contact your national child-protection hotline or the INHOPE network at inhope.org.
We aim to acknowledge child-safety reports within 24 hours and to take action on confirmed reports as quickly as the app's architecture allows.
4. Reporting to authorities
Zemzeme complies with all relevant child safety laws and reports apparent CSAM to the appropriate regional and national authorities, including NCMEC in the United States, in line with 18 U.S.C. § 2258A and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions.
5. Designated point of contact
The designated point of contact for all CSAE and CSAM matters is:
Zemzeme Team
Email: admin@zemzeme.app
This contact is able and authorized to discuss Zemzeme's CSAM-prevention practices and compliance with regulators, law enforcement, and Google Play.
6. Updates to these standards
We review these standards at least annually and update them whenever Zemzeme's features or applicable laws change materially. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
